Who wouldn't want to be a member of Bebo? Everyone who is anyone is a member of Bebo. Even the Queen is on Bebo*. (Although her homepage is private and only visible to her personal friends, footmen and corgis. You can tell when she's online though, because the internet is flown at half mast.)
Bebo is an online community allowing you to share photos and blogs, draw on your own and other members' White Boards and, oh, a ton of other stuff too. A ton. Literally a ton.**
Perhaps you're a student? Why not use your free time wisely and get your college or school onto Bebo where you can hang out with other students?
Ditto if you're at college or university. Why not try getting up earlier than lunchtime for once and getting online to Bebo? Plus you can join your old college or uni as an Alumni so you can catch up with past students or warn current ones about those weird teachers.
* Possibly.
** Not literally.
Every Bebo profile is private by default. If you are under the age of 21, Bebo strongly recommend keeping your profile private. The site provides an ‘Accessible Profile’ option for members to make their profile either public or private. To make your profile public/private, follow these steps (it's not rocket science, honest!):
- Visit www.Bebo.com and sign-in using your email address or username and password.
- Click the 'Profile' tab located on the top menu bar.
- Click the link 'Edit Profile', located below your profile photo.
- Scroll down to the section 'Accessible Profile'.
- Check or un-check the box next to: 'Make my Profile public. It can be accessed by going to http://www.bebo.com/username'.
- Click the 'Save' button.
If you choose to have a public profile, Bebo has no control over who views it. However, by editing your photo albums you can control who can see individual photo albums and choose whether to allow others to copy photos from individual photo albums. You can also block other members from contacting you.
If you choose to have a private profile, please remember that joining any college or school group makes your profile visible to the other Bebo members within that group. To make your profile PRIVATE (visible to direct friends only), you must leave any school or college group you have joined.
No, you can use Bebo without joining your college or school. This is especially handy if you go to a school for underachievers but don't want anyone to know. Likewise if you're at a pretend University, like Coventry, or Idaho State.
However, if you do join your college or school on Bebo then you can view other students or Alumni from your own fine educational establishment. You can also join clubs*, have direct access to college or school forums and photos, create your own brick on The Wall and the whole exciting world of Bebo will spread before you like a magical thing of wondrous beauty.
*With the exception of Chess Club. The first rule of Chess Club is not to talk about Chess Club.
Simple. You will need a valid email address for the college or school. Most have one, even Coventry and Idaho State. After registering with Bebo click on the Home tab then next to Colleges / Schools click "Join Yours >". On the next page choose your country then your college or school. To join now click 'join now'. (Tip: The clue that enables you to join now is cleverly hidden within the phrase 'join now'.) You can leave a college or school network you have joined by doing the following:
- Visit www.Bebo.com on your computer and sign-in using your email address or username and password.
- Click the 'Home' tab.
- Under the heading ‘Colleges / Schools’ click on the college or school you wish to leave.
- Click the link 'Stop being a Member' located under the college/school profile photo.
- Click the 'Stop being a Member' button to confirm your selection.
Initially we will email you to verify your email address in case you're a big fat liar. Assuming you're not (and you won't be because everyone on Bebo is lovely) you are now in control of all the email you receive from us.
To assume control (a bit like the Borg out of Star Trek but with less killing) simply sign in and click on the 'My Account' link at the top right hand side then click on 'Change Preferences' which you'll find nestling under the 'Email Preferences' section.
From time to time we may send you service emails on items specifically affecting your membership, (such as changes in terms of service for example) but we promise never, ever, ever, ever to clog up your inbox with badly spelt adverts for Viagra, Nigerian bank scams or cheap mortgages.
Is the Pope Catholic? Yes. And he’s on Bebo.*
*Possibly.
Invitations to join Bebo are either sent directly from your friend's email client, in which case we are unable to prevent these from being sent, or your details have been entered onto Bebo.com, in which case you can unsubscribe by clicking here.
Note that emails are only sent to you at the direct request of a friend. Your email address is not added to a mailing list because of this. Thus, if you are ever emailed by any Nigerian conmen pretending to work for a bank or by anyone trying to sell 'CiALLis&&', whatever that is, you can rest assured it won't have come from us.
You can change your username, email address or password by doing the following:
- Visit www.Bebo.com on your computer and sign-in using your email address or username and password.
- Click the 'My Account' tab on your 'Home' page.
- Under the heading 'Account Details' you will see the following options: Change Username, Change/Add Email, and Change Password.
- Click on the link of your choice and make your changes using the options provided.
Nothing. You are doomed and have only 48 hours to live.
Hahaha. We're joking - it's not a problem. Simply click here and enter your email address and we will reset your password for you.
If you are generally having problems remembering your password then here are two things worth noting:
- When you sign in, consider ticking the box called 'Sign Me In Automagically'. This will save you having to sign-in next time you visit Bebo on the same computer. Only use this option if you are on a private computer, rather than one shared with other people, or someone could log on in your name and replace your photo with one of David Hasselhoff with his shirt off. *shudders with horror*
- You may wish to change your password to one you find easier to remember. Once signed in you can change your password at any time by clicking on the Home tab, then 'My Account' in the bar just below the tabs, then click on the 'Change Password' link.
Nope. Not a chance. Our lips are sealed. Your friends are your business. If you decline a friend request or delete a person from your friend list that person will not be notified. They will just flounder around in their own unpopularity without ever knowing why. Your personal contact information will be removed from their friend list and they will be none the wiser. Gosh, life can be cruel. To delete a member from your friend’s list follow these instructions:
- Visit www.Bebo.com and sign-in using your email address or username and password.
- Click the 'Home' tab located on the top menu bar.

- Click on the red cross next to their profile photo. This is a delete option.

Deleting a member from your friend’s list will immediately delete your information from that member’s friend's list and address book as well as your own.

* Allow copy - Let others copy photos from this album into their own album.
Note: Checking the 'Direct Friends Only' box means that the album cannot be viewed publicly or at your URL address: http://www.bebo.com/username.
To delete a comment posted to one of your photos: click on the photo album containing the relevant photo; click on the photo you want to delete a comment from; then click the link ‘Delete’ located below the comment. To delete a comment posted to your profile page: go to the comments section on your profile page; click the link ‘View All’; click the link ‘Delete’ located next to the comment you wish to delete. Easy tiger. We don't condone violence round these parts. Anyone who can view your homepage can also write and draw on your white board. If you don't like the posting you can simply delete the entry. You are in charge and you have complete control over your profile. If this person is a real pain then you can also block the member, which stops them from contacting you and writing or drawing on your whiteboard. And frankly it's no less than they deserve. You can change your preferences to review comments and white board postings before they are shown by doing the following:
- Visit www.Bebo.com and sign-in using your email address or username and password.
- Click the link 'My Account' located under the 'Home' tab.
- Click the 'Change Preferences' link located under the 'Preferences' section.
- Check or uncheck the box for "Review Profile Comments and White Boards"
- Finally, click the ‘Save’ button.
Note: Checking the ‘Review Profile Comments and White Boards’ box means that comment and white board postings will NOT be shown on your profile until you have reviewed them.
You can cancel your membership at any time (though we can't imagine why you'd want to):
- If not already signed in - click here to do so and enter your email address or username and password.
- Click on the Home tab, then 'My Account' in the bar just below the tabs.
- Click the 'cancel your membership' link located at the bottom of the 'My Account' page.
- You must then click the YES button to actually cancel your membership.
If you are unable to sign-in to cancel your membership then please Contact Us and we will be happy to help you. Because we're nice like that.
